In 2017, Ghent University will be celebrating its 200th birthday.

Throughout the years, UGhent has been creating a huge social impact: ranging from the Nobel Prize for Literature, Physiology and Medicine to being the first Flemish university with Dutch as official working language. With UGent 20.0, the university not only tends to look back on its rich history. Through various activities and festivities, the university wants to look to the future and reflect on the role the university can play in the frame of a sustainable society.

As Realdolmen is aware of the power of collaboration (To get there, together!), we join hands with the Ghent University. In order to transform the challenges our modern society faces today into a safe vision of the future. By exchanging thoughts with academia on the societal and economic challenges, co-creation and on how we are getting stronger together. To support the festivities for the next year, we entered into a tailor-made partnership.

One of the first events was a huge success. During the frat party on March 23rd, the attendees could enjoy a sensational ride in our Realdolmen-RöllercØster: a VR-device which takes you along on a breathtaking virtual trip at a unheard velocity. The RöllercØster is the result of a collaboration between some new Realdolmen employees who were given total liberty to turn their conceptions about Virtual Reality into reality.

And let be this Virtual Reality the tone set for this partnership. Digitization, being connected, the new way of working, Internet of Things,... all themes truly written for our ICT company. Within the framework of these festivities, we organize altogether with the Ghent University, a series of “Co-creation round Tables” for no less than 200 invitees. For one whole day, we establish, together with our customers, a dialogue with partners, employees, researchers, alumni and students. During these Round Table discussions, we broach subjects which correspond to actual, strategic, tactical and operational IT domains such as electronic healthcare, connected vehicles, privacy guarantee of personal data, artificial intelligence, changing organizations, etc.

Would you like to attend? Go to the event website for more information or to register.  (Please note that this event will take place in DUTCH).

Also keep an eye on our blog site and social media sites after the event for further reports on these festivities and the outcome of these fascinating discussions.
