Attention: expansion recall laptop batteries HP

In January 2018, the American technology company HP announced a voluntary safety recall and replacement program notebook computer batteries. According to the announcement, these batteries have the potential to overheat, posing a fire and burn hazard to customers.

HP announces an Expansion of the 2018 HP Notebook Computer and Mobile Workstation Battery Safety Recall and Replacement Program.

Customers who have already received a replacement battery through the recall program of January 2018 are NOT affected by this expansion.

HP urges customers to recheck all potentially affected products.

The potentially affected batteries were delivered December 2015 through December 2018 for the mobile computers of following models:

  • ProBook (HP ProBook 64x G2- and G3-serie, HP ProBook 65x G2- and G3-serie, HP ProBook 4xx G4-serie (430, 440, 450, 455 and 470), HP ProBook 4xx G5 (430, 440, 450, 455, 470))
  • ZBook (HP ZBook 17 (G3 and G4), HP ZBook Studio G3, HP ZBook Studio G4)
  • x360 (HP x360 310 G2)
  • Pavilion (HP Pavilion x360)
  • ENVY (HP ENVY M6, HP 11, HP 11 Notebook PC)
  • HP ZHAN 66 Pro G1
  • HP ENVY 15
  • Mobile Thin Client (HP mt20, HP mt21, HP mt31)

Also the batteries that were provided as replacement batteries within this period should be reverified and replaced if necessary

HP asks you to check your battery by using following link. If it seems this program affects your battery, you should cease use of affected batteries immediately. The affected battery has to be removed from the notebook and you can receive a replacement battery at no cost.
