Data management as a cornerstone of the digital transformation

Data
digital transformation

Ensuring that data within your organization is efficiently and effectively coordinated and utilized represents an important step towards a successful digital transformation. Real-time and reliable data are in fact crucial when it comes to making the right strategic decisions, and running your operational business processes as optimally as possible.

The new gold standard

Data is the most valuable asset of modern-day organizations, since business processes are managed and guided via data flowing through these processes, e.g. customer data or product information. In addition, good data enables you to generate new flows of income. If interesting data is made available to partners or other interested parties, it creates new revenue streams.

Companies have to manage data as a strategic asset in order to be able to respond more quickly to rapidly changing markets. An effectively implemented data management strategy reduces your response time and allows you to take advantage of new opportunities and launch and offer new services more quickly.

Quality and accessibility

Simply collecting data without a well-thought-out strategy is not useful. In order to provide value, the data must comply with certain quality requirements. Data must be in the form of a digital product that people want to make use of. Master data management centralizes master data such as the reference data of customers, suppliers, and articles. Look at it as a beautifully organized filing cabinet from which everyone can obtain what they need without having to search. Many companies often still struggle with the fragmentation of their IT landscape, where different critical data is stored in different silo applications. By capturing their master data from across all the different systems, then integrating and managing it in a single central location, they can obtain a reliable and, above all, uniform view of their data. By building a properly managed master file, it becomes possible to make it accessible to the user again in whichever way and form that may be needed. If data is properly managed, it also has a positive impact on the scalability of a business. The availability of the master file with quality data makes it possible to quickly launch new initiatives.

Data in actual use

This type of data makes it very easy for sales, for example, to generate a 360° view of customers. The more information the source file contains about a customer, the easier it is to combine this information to provide valuable insights. A salesperson, for example, can do business in a much more targeted manner this way. This also creates interesting opportunities from a marketing perspective. Customer-specific data makes it possible to work with data-driven marketing.

The customer then sees personalized messages and develops a positive relationship with the brand much more quickly. The data can also be used to automate business processes. If you link business rules to certain information, you can program an automatic action that can be initiated once the data has been obtained. For example, if you combine the data on the number of persons in a room and the temperature, it may automatically result in the air conditioning being started. These practical applications demonstrate that a well-organized master file of quality data can generate an endless number of combinations and opportunities.
