Last week announcements were made about vulnerabilities that exist in some processors. These vulnerabilities have been codenamed "Meltdown" and "Spectre".

More information can be found at https://meltdownattack.com/ and https://spectreattack.com/

Different Realdolmen teams are working since last week with hard- and software vendors to check the availability of patches, the relationship between these patches and the potential impact. One of the impacts is a hit in performance between 5% and 30% depending on the workload.

For systems controlled by Realdolmen (RCloud environment, on-premise datacenters with managed service contracts and customers with managed workplace contracts), we will take of all actions required to implement the patches once available from the vendors. What could have been done in the meantime is already done, is planned or will be planned in the coming days/weeks depending on the information we receive form the vendors. If downtime is required outside the agreed windows, communication will be done in advance.

More information will be communicated when available.
